I am committed to raising the finest in purebred WORKING Spanish Mastiffs for livestock protection. Sadly I am also the ONLY breeder of Spanish Mastiffs in the USA who is investing in their dog's health by having their hips OFA certified. All of my dogs are being taken in and undergoing hip testing this spring and summer. No other Spanish Mastiff breeder in the US is willing to do this, and I am actually being slandered by other breeders for doing this. Why? Because it puts a huge question mark in front of their credibility now. Why? Because now they will be put on the spot to explain how it is they can ask thousands of dollars for their puppies out of parents which MAY have hip dysplasia, and pass it on to their pups. Why? Because it shows how you little ethics they really have. I am proud to be leading the way in the US to push for healthier, sounder Spanish Mastiffs that will live long and vigorous lives, thus paying back your investment in a healthy LGD. HD IS a problem in the breed, it is widely spread, and crops up often, even out of excellent parent stock. So why would anyone risk buying a pup out of parents who are unknowns, and who may in fact HAVE Hip Dysplasia, and pass it on to their pups? Would you like it if the pup you paid a lot of money for, suddenly became crippled and had to be put down at a young age, due to HD? By certifying my dogs and offering my health guarantee (see Health Certifications page), this won't happen with a pup purchased from Cinco Deseos Ranch. I have a full replacement guarantee.
I am not interested in or affiliated with any attempt to get this ancient and noble working breed AKC registered or recognized because I strongly feel it will only be the death knell for the mastine in this country. Likewise, I do not affiliate myself with any breeder in this country who advocates AKC recognition.
This giant, noble breed is unique and beautiful. They are calm and slow around livestock, and prefer to lie close to them, and do not work as perimeter LGD's but more as close guardians. Their temperament is stable, quiet, detached but loving. The mastine needs exercise. They do not make a good choice for small apartments or yards. If they do not get enough exercise, they can turn obese and lazy, and this could lead to structural issues and heart problems. My mastines are working dogs. Although some of them can come in and out of my house, they prefer to be outside on duty, in the livestock or in the yard, guarding. My goal is to produce tall, strong legged mastines of great character, type and functionality. It is most important to me that my dogs WANT to guard and do it well. None of my mastines are shown, or bred for show conformation. I have been lucky to bring over some of the top bloodlines to the USA to further this goal. I am particularly fond of brindles and they will be a specialty here I hope. With the addition of the Abelgas bloodlines, I am the only one to have this famous working line here in the USA. Abelgas is considered to be the breeder of the best working mastines in Spain.
Likewise, three of my dogs are out of world famous International Ch. Quanto Tornado Erben, a huge (36"), striking brindle dog in the CZ. Although not a working dog, Quanto retains a fiercely strong guarding instinct that has been passed on to his offspring, and my three Quanto pups, Xanto, Zaca and ZZeleste, are three of my most dedicated and devoted guardians of my sheep and goats.
Please check back regularly for litter announcements as I hope to have pups as early as March 24, 2012, pending x ray confirmation soon. Confirmed pregnancy WILL be announced!
Extended pedigree information on any of my dogs is gladly provided on request. My health certs are on the Health Certifications page. As my mastines get their hips done results will be made public on that page AND on the OFA website: www.offa.org.
STUD DOGS
PATRON
Patron is HD FREE and is OFA Certified FAIR
Aneto del Viejo Paramo
Import from Zaragosa, Spain, Viejo Paramo Kennel
210 pds - 34 1/2 "
Patron is the undisputed "king" of my ranch. His elegance, presence, grace and bearing is breathtaking. This gentle giant has so much self confidence.
He is gentle with my stock. He is incredibly strong...and still developing. He once took my 160 pd. Pyrenees male by the neck...and shook him like a rag doll.
This is one dog you don't push too far....he is deadly on predators. His sheer size overpowers most anything.

XANTO
- Hip Xrays scheduled for March 13, 2012 - will post results on the Health Certs page
Xanto Tornado Erben
Import from Czech Republic, Tornado Erben Kennel
190+ pds - 33.5"
My "Tiger Boy" is extremely suspicious of strangers but strongly bonded to all of my livestock. He is a fierce protector.
Although not as tall as Patron, Xanto's head and feet are actually larger than Patron's and he's still growing.
This gorgeous male is solid muscle and loose skin. He is very powerful and moves well. He has his father's bright orange brindle coloring and presence. Xanto will be bred eventually to
Ibra Lu'Dareva and I anticipate those pups to be huge and colorful.

MY FEMALES
PIA
Amaya Dartibo
Import from Czech Republic, Kennel Dartibo
185 pds - 33.5"
Amigo Zeus Bis Mastibe x Jr. Ch. Rebelle Tornado Erben
Sire and Dam of Pia (Amaya Dartibo) below:
Amigo Zeus bis Mastibe and Rebelle Tornado Erben
Pia has an injured left tibia which is why her left side is atrophied. Through several x-rays, this has been confirmed as an injury and not a genetic defect by one US specialist and two top European specialists who have
confirmed this finding. Her hips were x rayed and deemed clear from displaysa when she was younger and will be re-evaluated one more time. She has compensated so well for her injury that she can jump,
run and play as if she had no injury at all. She is an incredibly powerful female and can run as fast or faster than some of my other LGD's.
She has built up huge muscle mass in her front end to compensate for her weaker left leg. Pia was started on livestock as soon as she arrived from the CZ and is a
fiercely devoted guardian of the sheep and goats. She is also very leery of people she does not know well, and a fierce guardian of my home and ranch.
She has a beautiful head type, and a huge amount of loose skin and a most pronounced "papada" or double chin, the desired loose flesh around the neck and shoulders.

ZELESTE TORNADO ERBEN (Black Brindle) & ZACA TORNADO ERBEN (Red Brindle)
Full litter sisters, half sisters to Xanto
Imported from Czech Republic, Tornado Erben Kennel
177 & 180 pds, 33.5" & 33.5" (Still babies...and still growing)
Sire and Dam of Zzeleste and Zaca:
Int. Ch. Quanto Tornado Erben x Roxana Tornado Erben
If you are looking for size in a Spanish Mastiff you need look no further than these two sisters out of the Int. Ch. Quanto Tornado Erben. I am a big fan of brindle dogs and these two have
gorgeous coloring. Both Zzele and Zaca are huge girls, Zzele having the longest back of all of my girls. Both are powerful girls, and extremely devoted to guarding my
livestock. In fact they usually prefer to stay in them and I have to coax them to come out of the fields. Both girls have massive bone, beautiful heads and ear sets, and strong legs. Note the loose skin on their heads, necks and underbelly. This is what loose skin really looks like. I anticipate their pups from Patron will be tall, very elegant and huge boned pups. Keep in mind these girls will grow till they are three years old.

IBRA
Ibra is HD FREE and OFA Certified GOOD
Ibra Lu'Dareva
Imported from Poland, Lu'Dareva Kennels
165 pds, 33"
Lucero Mastibe x Fairy Tale Lu'Dareva
Ibra started out as a slow grower but now has caught up with the brindle girls. She is a tank! Ibra is the most social of all my mastines, and is very friendly even with strangers.
She likes to sit and watch her goats (see photo) and is a devoted guardian. She has great bone and substance, is a very solid girl, with lots of loose skin and the trademark
"papada" (double chin) of the Spanish Mastiff. She combined with Xanto will produce some very colorful and large, solid framed pups.

LOBA AND LAREINA
(Registered names Crisa and Tioda de Abelgas)
From Spain's famous Abelgas Kennel of working Spanish Mastiffs
Guido x Priyanka and Lobedu x Filloxia de Abelgas

Mastines de Abelgas Girls Cris and Tioda (I call them Loba and LaReina) Spanish Imports
These girls are the only and very first Abelgas Spanish Mastiffs in the USA. Abelgas is the foundation
for many famous lines of Mastines in Spain. Gregorio Fidalgo Tejedor is considered by many to be the top breeder of working Spanish Mastiffs
in the world. I was flattered and most honored that he selectively allowed me to import these two beautiful girls to my ranch.
I look forward to breeding them to Patron and Xanto in the future. The cross should produce spectacular, tall, solid working Mastines.
